Dual Frequency RFID

Dual Frequency RFID

Table of Contents

Dual band RFID refers to RFID (Radio Frequency Identification) technology that supports two frequency bands simultaneously. RFID technology is a non-contact automatic identification technology that uses wireless radio frequency for non-contact bidirectional data communication. It uses wireless radio frequency to read and write recording media (electronic tags or radio frequency cards) to achieve the purpose of identifying targets and exchanging data. Dual frequency RFID technology combines two frequency bands, low frequency and high frequency, high frequency and ultra-high frequency, to achieve more flexible identification and tracking in different application scenarios.

1. Frequency band characteristics

1.1 Low frequency RFID

Usually working in the 125kHz frequency band, it has high stability and anti-interference ability, suitable for close range read and write applications such as access control, logistics management, etc. The recognition of low-frequency RFID is an activation method, and it will not be activated if it is not in the activation zone. Therefore, its activation zone boundary is clear and will not be affected by environmental interference.

1.2 High frequency RFID

Usually operates in the 13.56MHz frequency band, with fast data transmission rates, suitable for applications such as identity recognition, payment, and inventory management.

1.3 Ultra high frequency RFID

The working frequency range is between 860MHz and 960MHz, with a long reading distance and large-scale item recognition capability, suitable for logistics tracking, vehicle management, animal identification and other fields.

2. The advantages of dual band RFID

Dual frequency RFID technology, as an advanced form of RFID technology, has significant advantages, which are mainly reflected in the following aspects:

2.1 Flexible recognition and tracking capabilities

Dual band support: Dual band RFID technology can simultaneously support two different frequency bands of RFID signals, such as the common combination of 433MHz and 125KHz, or high frequency (such as 13.56MHz) and ultra-high frequency (such as 860MHz to 960MHz). This multi band support enables dual band RFID to be more widely applied in different fields, meeting the recognition and tracking needs in different scenarios. Widely applicable: Due to its support for two frequency bands, dual band RFID technology can achieve more flexible identification and tracking in different scenarios. For example, in logistics management, it is possible to simultaneously identify the low-frequency and high-frequency tags of goods and track their status in real-time; In identity authentication, high-frequency and ultra-high frequency tags can be used to jointly verify identity information and improve recognition accuracy. 2.2 Accurate regional positioning and access management

Characteristics of low frequency band: Low frequency RFID (such as 125KHz) has high stability and anti-interference ability, and its activation zone boundary is clear, which will not be affected by environmental interference. This makes low-frequency RFID perform well in regional positioning, especially in access management. When personnel or materials enter the low-frequency activation zone, there is almost no deviation, although high-precision positioning cannot be achieved, the area control is very precise. Supplement to the high-frequency band: The high-frequency band (such as 433MHz) has strong diffraction, strong crossing, and long transmission intervals, making it suitable for long-distance identification and tracking. This feature, combined with low frequency bands, enables dual band RFID to ensure accurate area access management while also achieving long-distance identification and tracking within a certain range.

2.3 Efficient Data Transmission and Storage

High frequency data transmission: High frequency RFID usually has a faster data transmission rate, which can transmit information inside the tag more quickly and improve the efficiency of identification and tracking.

Large capacity storage: Some dual band RFID tags also support large capacity storage, which can record more data and information for subsequent data processing and analysis.

2.4 Low power consumption and long lifespan

Low power design: Dual frequency RFID tags are in standby mode in normal operation and only emit signals when entering the activation zone, thus possessing ultra-low power consumption characteristics. This design not only extends the lifespan of the label, but also reduces the cost of use.

Long life battery: Due to its low-power design, dual frequency RFID tags typically have a longer battery life, with some tags having a battery life of over 5 years, reducing the frequency and cost of battery replacement.

2.5 Safety and Reliability

Anti counterfeiting performance: Dual frequency RFID tags have anti-counterfeiting performance and are difficult to replicate and forge, improving the security of use.

Strong anti-interference ability: Dual frequency RFID technology has strong anti-interference ability and can work stably in complex environments, ensuring the accuracy of identification and tracking.

3. Application scenarios

3.1 Logistics management

Dual frequency RFID technology can simultaneously identify low-frequency and high-frequency tags of goods, thereby tracking the status and location of goods in real time.

3.2 Identity authentication

By jointly verifying identity information through high-frequency and ultra-high frequency tags, the accuracy and security of identification are improved.

3.3 Entry and exit positioning

Low frequency RFID performs well in the field of entry and exit, and combined with high-frequency or ultra-high frequency technology, it can achieve perfect entry and exit effects, meeting the needs of material, personnel and other entry and exit management.

3.4 Cold chain logistics

Dual frequency RFID temperature electronic tags adopt high-frequency and ultra-high frequency dual frequency technology, which can measure temperature in real time or at regular intervals, and support large capacity storage and offline data preservation, bringing a new solution for cold chain logistics.

In summary, dual frequency RFID technology has been widely used in multiple fields due to its flexibility, accuracy, and precise regional control advantages. With the continuous progress of technology and the deepening expansion of applications, its application prospects will become even broader.
