RFID Anti-Counterfeit

RFID Anti-Counterfeit Technology: Securing the Future of Fine Wine

Table of Contents

Food safety has always been a focus of public concern, as the high profits of the liquor industry tempt many criminals to take risks and produce and sell counterfeit goods. The end of the liquor supply chain is the consumer, and how to manage customers well in supply chain management and be responsible for the quality of customers and one’s own products is the key to doing a good job in liquor product management. It is understood that the timing for the application of RFID technology in the wine industry is ripe. RFID technology is mainly applied in the RFID anti-Counterfeit of red wine packaging.

1.Red wine cork with built-in RFID chip

This electronic tag belongs to the category of specific tags, designed and made according to the bottle cap of red wine, specifically used for tracing and anti-counterfeiting identification of bottled red wine. Product features: Specially customized for bottled red wine, it is a disposable product that is lightweight, agile, and easy to use.

2.Red wine RFID sticker bottle label

RFID patch bottle tag, after bringing the red wine to the RFID scanning area, the screen immediately displays multimedia information such as the origin information, grape variety, logistics information, meal instructions, and drinking methods of the bottle of red wine. In addition, RFID software solutions can be used to manage store operations, easily manage inventory, and optimize replenishment cycles to eliminate stockouts and achieve sales growth.

South African wine giant KWV (one of the best wine companies in South Africa) uses RFID technology to track and store wine barrels. Due to the high cost of these wooden barrels and the close relationship between the quality of KWV’s wine and the age and frequency of use of the barrels used for storage, KWV utilizes the system provided by the local RFID research association to use RFID electronic tags to help track the location, frequency of use, and time to order new barrels.

For example, the American company eProvinance adopts a dual insurance method. Firstly, each wine bottle is labeled with an RFID tag, which uses the 13.56MHz frequency band and is embedded in hard plastic and placed at the bottom of the bottle. The unique ID code specific to this wine is printed on the surface of the tag chip. This code corresponds to all the information about this wine in the data center, which can be accessed by the wine company through a web browser. This can effectively identify whether the wine bottle is counterfeit. Secondly, eProvinance has installed anti-counterfeit bottle seals at the bottleneck of each bottle. This bottle seal is a patented anti-counterfeiting design with patented invisible anti-counterfeiting ink. It can be read by a simple handheld reader included with the packaging provided by the wine manufacturer. Consumers can easily and accurately determine the authenticity of the wine bottle, as well as the sealing of the bottle and whether it has been opened without authorization.

3.Advantages of RFID application in anti-counterfeiting management of wine and foreign wine

  • Corresponding to a single product, RFID tags have a unique ID code that cannot be replicated;
  • RFID tags are non paper products that are not easily worn out, and there is no contamination or tearing. In addition, they have waterproof and non-magnetic characteristics;
  • RFID tags come in two types: read-only and read-write, with a large storage capacity;
  • The physical interface of the reader/writer for electronic tags is not directly open to the end consumer of the product, which can effectively ensure the accuracy of the information contained in the tag;

RFID tags can read and write a large number of target products at once, with high efficiency and fully automated data processing.

Applying RFID non-contact RFID technology to anti-counterfeiting technology for wine and foreign liquor effectively prevents criminals from counterfeiting. Based on RFID technology, a complete anti-counterfeiting traceability and anti-counterfeiting management system has been formed from the production, inventory, logistics, sales, and final consumption of consumers. Optimize the production, circulation, and sales processes with meticulous attention to detail, achieving scientific information management. It can effectively prevent counterfeit and shoddy products, effectively transmit information, improve monitoring at all stages, effectively safeguard the quality of wine and foreign wine and the interests of producers and merchants, prevent counterfeit products from entering the sales market, control product quality, supervise and manage sales personnel, formulate reasonable service strategies, prevent and stop product collusion, strengthen control and management of various markets, guide product design positioning, improve the timeliness of enterprise decision-making, and thus improve the entire industry chain of the wine market.
