A Vehicle Windshield Electronic Tag, also known as an RFID Windshield Label, is an intelligent device that utilizes Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) technology for vehicle management and monitoring. It is affixed to the vehicle’s windshield and communicates with a reader via Ultra-High Frequency (UHF) signals, enabling key functions such as automated vehicle identification, location tracking, and data collection.

1. The electronic label on the windshield of a vehicle has the following characteristics

  • Long distance recognition: UHF signals can penetrate non-metallic objects, so reading and writing operations can be performed within a distance of 1-15 meters without being limited by vehicle speed and without missing readings.
  • Anti disassembly and tear: Electronic tags use special materials and structural design, with waterproof, dustproof, high temperature resistance, aging resistance and other properties. At the same time, when it is intentionally damaged, the electronic tag will automatically destroy the program, making it unusable again.
  • Anti transfer: The electronic tag is tightly attached to the windshield, and attempting to transfer it to another vehicle may result in damage or failure of the electronic tag.

2.Vehicle windshield electronic tags have a wide range of application scenarios

  • Vehicle management: By installing readers and antennas in parking lots, toll stations, inspection stations, and other locations, automatic identification and registration of incoming and outgoing vehicles can be achieved, and data exchange and analysis can be carried out with the backend system.
  • Vehicle monitoring: By installing GPS positioning module and wireless communication module on electronic tags, real-time location information of vehicles can be obtained, and data exchange and analysis can be carried out with the backend system.
  • Vehicle safety: By installing infrared positioning modules and radio frequency transmission modules on electronic tags, it is possible to perceive the surrounding environment and exchange and analyze data with the backend system.

Here is a case study about the use of ultra-high frequency anti tampering vehicle windshield electronic tags by the Traffic Police Department of Shenzhen Public Security Bureau as a means of vehicle management and monitoring, achieving automatic identification, registration, and illegal handling of motor vehicles throughout the city.

In order to improve traffic management efficiency, reduce labor costs, and minimize traffic accidents and congestion, the Traffic Police Bureau of Shenzhen Public Security Bureau has decided to adopt ultra-high frequency anti tampering vehicle windshield electronic tags as a means of vehicle management and monitoring.
Due to its features such as long reading distance, tear resistance, waterproofing, and high temperature resistance, ultra-high frequency anti tamper electronic tags on vehicle windshields can be firmly attached and will become ineffective once torn or damaged. This tag can store basic information of the vehicle (such as license plate, color, model, etc.) and status information (such as whether it has undergone annual inspection, whether it is illegal, etc.). The Traffic Police Department of Shenzhen Public Security Bureau has deployed thousands of ultra-high frequency readers and cameras throughout the city, forming an intelligent vehicle management platform covering major roads and key areas in the urban area.

This plan has shown good results. By using ultra-high frequency anti tampering electronic tags on vehicle windshields, the Traffic Police Department of Shenzhen Public Security Bureau has achieved automatic identification, registration, and illegal handling of motor vehicles throughout the city. This system can effectively improve traffic management efficiency, reduce labor costs, and minimize traffic accidents and congestion. For example:

  • For motor vehicles with non local license plates, they must apply for a temporary driving license at the designated location within the prescribed time after entering Shenzhen and affix a temporary electronic tag. Otherwise, being scanned by a reader on the road will automatically record and impose a fine.
  • For motor vehicles that fail to undergo annual inspections on time or engage in other illegal activities, they will be automatically recorded and fined after being scanned by a reader on the road. Depending on the severity of the situation, points will be deducted or temporarily suspended.
  • For motor vehicles suspected of theft, license plate fraud, evasion and other illegal activities, they will be automatically recorded and reported to the police after being scanned by a reader on the road, and tracked, located and dispatched through cameras.
  • For motor vehicles that require priority passage or special treatment (such as ambulances, fire trucks, official vehicles, etc.), they will be automatically recognized and given corresponding convenience and protection after being scanned by a reader on the road, such as turning on green lights, clearing the road, etc.

3.Summary

The application case of ultra-high frequency anti tampering vehicle windshield electronic tags in the Traffic Police Bureau of Shenzhen Public Security Bureau demonstrates an advanced traffic management technology and mode, providing reference and guidance for other cities. This technology can not only improve the efficiency and level of traffic management, but also ensure public safety and order, and promote social harmony and development.
