UHF RFID Card

Table of Contents

In the logistics chains of industries such as manufacturing, retail, and e-commerce, unit load carriers—such as pallets and returnable containers—play a central role in the movement of goods. Every day, tens of thousands of returnable containers circulate between warehouses, transport vehicles, and distribution centers. However, traditional management models have long been plagued by three major challenges: barcode labels are prone to wear and tear, leading to data loss; manual inventory counts are time-consuming and prone to errors; and the inability to track the whereabouts of these containers results in significant asset loss. To address these issues, advanced solutions like the UHF RFID Card are being introduced, enabling more reliable identification, real-time tracking, and improved data accuracy, thereby significantly enhancing overall supply chain operational efficiency.

From Manufacturing to Smart Manufacturing

The in-depth application of smart IoT technology is breaking this deadlock. RFID logistics container tags encapsulate smart chips within industrial-grade protective casings, giving each container a unique digital identity. From initial deployment, through warehousing and transit, to recycling and reuse, data is automatically collected throughout the entire lifecycle, truly enabling visualized management with a “one container, one code” system.

Leveraging over a decade of technical expertise in the field of intelligent identification, SEIKO Technology Co., Ltd. has launched its Ultra-High Frequency (UHF) tags, which have become an industry benchmark. These tags are designed to operate in environments ranging from -25°C to 75°C and meet the IP67 standard for water and dust resistance, enabling them to withstand harsh conditions such as outdoor transportation, damp warehouse environments, and mechanical impacts. Utilizing RFID technology, stacked returnable containers can be scanned in bulk instantly. Combined with personalized customization services, this solution establishes an efficient and transparent management system for supply chain logistics.

Industrial-Grade Product Features

Flexible installation options:

Depending on the material of the carrier and the application scenario, UHF tags can be installed using various methods, such as 3M adhesive backing, screw fastening, or cable tie mounting, to ensure they remain securely attached to all types of plastic crates, metal pallets, and wooden pallets.

Specifications and parameters can be customized as needed:

Available in a variety of standard sizes, including 86×54 mm and 70×17 mm, these tags can be printed with QR codes, barcodes, company logos, or text descriptions to meet the personalized management needs of different customers.

High-performance, efficient, and accurate recognition:

Strictly compliant with the EPC Class 1 Gen 2 / ISO 18000-6C international standards, it operates within the globally accepted 860–960 MHz frequency band. When paired with the appropriate antenna, handheld devices can read tags from up to 8 meters away, while fixed readers can read from up to 15 meters away, enabling data collection in a single pass even when hundreds or thousands of returnable containers are stacked.

Durable in extreme environments:

Encased in PVC material (or industrial-grade ABS material), it features impact resistance as well as waterproof and dustproof properties. With a read/write cycle count exceeding 100,000 and a data retention period of over 10 years, it can be reused repeatedly until the medium is no longer usable.

The chip offers stable and reliable performance:

Available with either the U8 or H9 high-performance chip, it features a 512-bit user memory area and supports high-speed write commands, capable of processing the EPC encoding of 30 tags per second. Its low-power design ensures long-term stable operation.

Supply Chain Container Management: RFID Logistics Tags

Applications of RFID Tags for Logistics Containers

Automated Management of Warehouse Inbound and Outbound Operations

Fixed RFID readers are installed at warehouse entrances and exits. When forklifts or pallet jacks carrying returnable containers pass through, the system automatically batch-reads all UHF pallet tag information, quickly completing inventory registration and outbound verification. This eliminates the need for manual scanning of each container, boosting operational efficiency by 5 to 10 times and completely eliminating missed or incorrect scans.

Accurate Inventory Count of Circulating Stock:

By using RFID handheld devices to scan items while moving around the warehouse, inventory counts for large numbers of returnable containers can be completed in a short amount of time. The system automatically tallies the number of empty and full containers, records usage frequency, and identifies idle containers, providing accurate data to support scheduling optimization.

End-to-end supply chain traceability:

From the moment a container leaves the factory and enters service, through the loading and transport of goods, to its return, cleaning, and re-deployment, UHF RFID tags comprehensively record the time, location, and associated cargo information for every movement. This enables full lifecycle traceability for each individual returnable container, from deployment to disposal.

Real-time tracking of shipments in transit

Once RFID tags are attached to the returnable containers, they can be tracked in real time—including their location and status—using readers or handheld devices installed on transport vehicles. If a container deviates from its scheduled route or is moved outside a designated area in violation of regulations, the system automatically triggers an alert, effectively preventing asset loss.
